The Magic of Sun Prints | Cyanotype

Cyanotype is old blue magic: a nineteenth-century photographic process that uses light, chemistry, and simple objects to create vivid Prussian-blue prints.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, artist Leslie Alexander introduces the process from coating and composition through controlled exposure and washing. Participants will arrange botanicals, found forms, and other materials to build images, then use indoor UV lamps so the group can work through a consistent process without depending on the weather. You will see the print change in real time and leave with original cyanotypes made by hand.

All tools and supplies are included, and no previous cyanotype, photography, or printmaking experience is required. Wear clothing appropriate for a hands-on art process and plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early. Registration is required; each class is limited to 10 students, with one scholarship seat held outside paid inventory.
