Access Is Part of the Work

Erie Labor Temple is committed to making its website, programs, events, and public spaces as accessible and usable as reasonably possible for people with disabilities.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. Erie Labor Temple is still developing its website, restoring and activating its building, and improving the way visitors receive information and participate in its work. We welcome questions, accommodation requests, and direct feedback about barriers.

Digital Accessibility

We are working to improve the accessibility of the Erie Labor Temple website for people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, voice controls, captions, and other assistive technologies.

Our ongoing work includes reviewing:

Page structure and heading order
Keyboard navigation
Alternative text for meaningful images
Text and background contrast
Link and button labels
Forms and registration processes
Video captions and audio alternatives
Downloadable documents and PDF files
Mobile and browser usability

Our improvement target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Erie Labor Temple has not yet completed a comprehensive independent accessibility audit and does not currently claim full conformance with a specific WCAG level.

Known Limitations

Some parts of the website may not yet provide an equally accessible experience. Possible limitations include:

Older images without complete alternative text
Videos or audio without captions or transcripts
Downloadable documents that are difficult to navigate with assistive technology
Forms, payment tools, maps, calendars, ticketing systems, or media players supplied by third-party services
Page elements that may not work consistently with every browser, device, or assistive technology
Event information or archived materials created before the current accessibility review

We are addressing these issues as the website and ELT’s operating systems are rebuilt.

When content or a website feature is not accessible to you, contact us. We will work with you to provide the information or complete the task through another reasonable method.

Visiting Erie Labor Temple

Erie Labor Temple is an older, multi-floor building undergoing continued repair, preparation, and public activation. Access conditions may differ by room, floor, program, and event.

We do not describe the entire building as barrier-free.

Before visiting, guests may contact us to ask about the specific event or space they plan to use, including:

Building entrance and route information
Stairs, ramps, or floor access
Restroom access
Seating options
Space for mobility devices
Service animals
Lighting, sound, or sensory conditions
Communication access
An alternative way to participate or receive information

Please contact us as early as practical when requesting an accommodation. We will review the request based on the event, room, available resources, safety requirements, and current building conditions. We cannot guarantee that every request can be fulfilled, but we will communicate clearly and make a good-faith effort to identify a workable option.

Reporting an Accessibility Barrier

Please tell us when something on the website or at Erie Labor Temple prevents you from finding information, registering, purchasing, communicating, entering a space, or participating.

When reporting a website issue, it is helpful to include:

The browser or device you were using
The assistive technology involved, when you are comfortable sharing it
