THE SECRET SPINE // AFTER HOURS goes deeper into the Secret Belgian, or crisscross, binding: a modern exposed-spine structure in which separate covers and spine pieces are joined through a distinctive woven sewing pattern.
Participants work through board and spine relationships, sewing stations, thread path, tension, section attachment, and the structural choices that make the woven spine function rather than merely decorate the object.
Leave with one completed flat-opening journal and a clearer understanding of how the structure can be repeated and adapted. Beginners are welcome, but expect real bookbinding. Materials included. 18+ only.
