WHEN THE CENTER GAVE WAY
Edward Patrick Kranz (Ezju) | 2026
Natural Squid Ink (Ikasumi) on 100% Cotton Paper
Two Original Paintings Presented as One Diptych
Something happened in the middle. Whatever it was, the evidence went everywhere.
When the Center Gave Way is a two-panel painting created through controlled spatter, with thousands of individual marks scattered across the cotton paper. Heavy concentrations of black ink break apart into smaller droplets, flecks, and fine directional traces that gradually disappear into the white.
Displayed side by side, the two paintings create a single field of movement divided by a narrow gap. That small separation becomes part of the work, suggesting a fracture, a point of impact, or something that has been pulled apart.
There are echoes of storms, scattered debris, distant stars, and the aftermath of an event we never actually get to see.
The closer you look, the less random it becomes.
Original, one-of-a-kind diptych. Sold as a pair.
