THE MIND MAKES A MONSTER

THE MIND MAKES A MONSTER

Edward Patrick Kranz (Ezju) | 2026

Natural Squid Ink (Ikasumi) on 100% Cotton Paper18 × 12 inches | Original Painting

Two halves of a sheet of paper. A little squid ink. And something neither the artist nor the viewer can quite explain.

The Mind Makes a Monster was created using a folded-paper inkblot technique, producing a symmetrical image with an unsettling life of its own. Some will see a creature. Others might find a mask, an insect, an ancient figure, or something they can't put a name to.

The painting borrows the visual language of a Rorschach test, but there are no right answers here. What you see may have as much to do with what you bring to the painting as with the ink itself.

And perhaps the most interesting part is that someone standing beside you might see something entirely different.

Original, one-of-a-kind artwork.
