URBAN HATCH // WORKING PROOF 06
$95.00
03 // ERIE DESIGN — ART WORKS HERE
The street made the first mark. Erie Labor Temple made the second.
This original working proof combines a relief impression from an Erie-designed utility cover with an early experimental printing of the Erie Labor Temple logo and ART WORKS HERE tagline.
The two printing surfaces don't behave alike. The cast-metal pattern has its own texture and irregularities. The ELT block introduces another kind of mark, still being developed and refined.
The result records an important step in the Urban Hatch project: the moment an impression of the city began carrying the identity of the place putting that impression to work.
The alignment isn't perfect. Neither is the transfer. Both are part of this original proof.
