URBAN HATCH // WORKING PROOF 09

05 // MA BELL — ART WORKS HERE
Before everything disappeared into wireless signals, communication had a great deal of physical weight.
Cable. Conduit. Steel. Cast iron. People digging trenches, making connections, fixing things, and keeping a city talking.
This early Urban Hatch proof takes its first impression from a Ma Bell-era utility cover, bringing a piece of that communications infrastructure onto paper.
A second experimental impression adds the Erie Labor Temple logo and ART WORKS HERE tagline.
The old utility surface and the new ELT mark share the sheet, with worn details, shifting ink coverage, and the unmistakable texture of an original hand-pulled print.
A little piece of the machinery that helped a city communicate, put to another use.
