WHAT STILL
HOLDS
Jared K. Faulkner + Christian Frontera
UNION 001 // November 13–December 20, 2026 // Great Union Hall
WHAT STILL HOLDS brings together painter Jared K. Faulkner and assemblage artist Christian Frontera in an exhibition about what happens when familiar things stop behaving the way we expect them to.
Faulkner’s paintings move between recognition and uncertainty. Forms begin to suggest bodies, machines, buildings, or symbols, then shift before they settle into a single meaning. Paint is layered, surfaces are interrupted, and paintings may be cut, joined, or stitched back together. The structure remains, but certainty does not.
Frontera works with discarded objects, furniture, paper, hardware, wire, and other found materials. He tears things apart, combines fragments, and builds them into sculptures and collages that can feel humorous, awkward, familiar, and strange at the same time. Screws, seams, repairs, and imperfections remain visible rather than being hidden.
Placed together, the two practices create a conversation about disruption without collapse: how much can an image or object change before it becomes something else?
WHAT STILL HOLDS does not offer a single answer. It asks viewers to spend time in the uncertain space between recognition and doubt - where something has shifted, the expected order no longer quite works, and somehow the structure remains.
Something still holds.
