WORK UNDER VOLTAGE
Work leaves a residue.
Not a conventional group show. An evidence room.
Not a conventional group show. An evidence room.

WORK UNDER VOLTAGE is a one-room curatorial installation inside Studio 209 for Erie Labor Temple’s December Gallery Night. It gathers art, tools, fragments, photographs, documents, process remnants, repaired things, worn surfaces, and work-made objects to examine a basic proposition: labor changes matter, and matter remembers.

The room is not built around a trade, an era, a single industry, or a sentimental image of Erie. It is built around residue: abrasion, polish, breakage, improvisation, repetition, pressure, failure, skill, adaptation, and proof. A contemporary artwork may belong beside a non-art object when both carry material evidence of how work is done and what it leaves behind.

Studio 209 sits beside Studio 211 // TELL ME ABOUT THE WORK., Erie Labor Temple’s oral-history recording room. The relationship is direct but not dependent: 209 holds physical evidence; 211 holds living testimony. Visitors should understand the connection immediately, but neither room should require participation in the other.
